Tatsuji Toyozumi
Born in Osaka in 1965, originally from Tokushima Prefecture.
Raised in Kochi from early childhood and graduated from Tosa High School.
He completed his studies in composition at Aichi University of the Arts, earning both his Bachelor’s degree in Music (Composition) and his Master’s degree from the Graduate School of Music at the same institution.
He studied composition under Kan Ishii, Bin Kameda, and Keiki Okasaka.
In 2004, his Radiation: Piano Concerto No. 2 won First Prize at the 10th 2 Agosto International Composition Competition in Bologna, where it was premiered.
Commissioned by the same organizer, he composed Little Things for tenor solo, choir, and orchestra in 2009. The work was premiered in Bologna, featuring tenor Gabriele Mangione and the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro Comunale di Bologna under the direction of Osman Gioia, and was broadcast on Italy’s national television, Rai 3.
He is currently active in music education at Showa University of Music and Tokyo Polytechnic University.
Member of the Japan Federation of Composers.
